--January had the coldest temperatures. The trend of that graph was having average daily temperatures in the teens during the first part of the month, followed by a cold spell at the end of the month. February was very up and down for temperatures. March seemed to have an increasing temperature trend. And April started out with an increasing temperature trend and peaked on the 10th with an average temperature of 61.7 degrees F. Unfortuneately, it has been steady around 40 degrees for the last 2 weeks or so.
--For January, the prevailing wind direction was west, taking up about 2/3 of the pie chart. NW was also common and this is typical because the cold temperatures during the month are associated with NW winds. February, the prevailing wind direction again was west, taking up about ¼ of the pie chart. For March, the prevailing wind directions were east and west. And for April so far the prevailing wind direction was east. March and April have seen a switch from west to east winds and that is associated with warmer temperatures.
--Starting with January, my first blog entry was on January 31st. I talked about the steady snowfall we were receiving and that it was about 18 degrees F. We received a total of 2.8 inches that day. In the beginning of February, specifically my entry on February 8th, I blogged about how cold it was. We were receiving the cold air from the continental polar air mass and west winds. Another notable blog in February was on the 20th and 21st. I had written on the 20th that I was “praying for a snow day” and was mad on the 21st when we did not get one. We received quite a bit of snow that night and it continued the next morning. There were strong ESE winds those days and temperatures around 20 degrees F. In March during spring break on March 22nd we had thunder snow here. I was in Georgia at the time and was not able to blog about it, but the conditions were an average temperature of 35 degrees F that day with 17 mph east winds. There was fog, rain, thunder, and a total of 1.6 inches of snow. So far in April we have seen a range of temperatures. On April 7th, I blogged that it was 62 degrees with light SE winds and a falling pressure reading. That weekend we were predicted to be hit by major storms, but they missed us and hit other areas of Wisconsin.
